Barbara R. Felisky is known for rich impressionist paintings of gardens and landscapes. The afternoon sun warming a wall in Provence, an embankment of towering rhododendrons spilling into the moat of a ruined castle, or a glorious profusion of roses climbing over a brick garden gate, all impart a sense of tranquility and awe in an all-too-often hectic world. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Felisky now resides in Southern California, painting daily at her studio. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and Education from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and is an artist member of the Laguna Beach Museum of Art, as well as the National Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers Society. In order to further develop her skills, Felisky has studied under the tutelage of several artists and has also studied drawing under Fredrick Odell. Using the knowledge she acquired during her university education and while simply working as a professional artist, Felisky began teaching classes in drawing and oil painting in 1971.

Felisky’s work has been shown in a number of major juried exhibitions, including those of the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, the Miniature Art Society of Washington, DC, the New Mexico Art League, the South Carolina Cameo Art Show and the Laramie, Wyoming National Miniature Show. Her most recent shows have been held in Carmel, California; London, England; Atlanta, Georgia; Scottsdale, Arizona; and Newport Beach, California. Felisky and her work have been shown and discussed on a number of occasions in the national art magazine American Artist, and her own article "Searching for Levitan" appeared in the July 1988 issue. The Franklin Mint has produced a series of plates now available in the United Kingdom, which features English scenes by the artist. The curious art collector will consult her biography in Who’s Who in American Art for further information.
